Passage: Revelation 4:1-6– 5:1-10

Outline

Introduction – Heaven is constant as earthly events fluctuate. So what’s happening in heaven right now?

I. THE THRONE
The dominant image in Revelation 4 is the throne. It is mentioned fifteen times. What does the throne symbolize?

II. THE SCROLL
The dominant image in Revelation 5 is the scroll. It is mentioned seven times. What does the scroll symbolize?

III. THE SONG
Why is heaven’s reaction to the throne and the scroll a song?

Discussion Questions:
1 - What does the throne in Revelation 4 symbolize? What hard thing are you going through? How does knowing God is in control bring your comfort and courage?

2 - What does the scroll in Revelation 5 symbolize? Can you give an example of where you’ve recently seen God’s involvement in the details of your life?

3 - Jesus is called “the Lion of the tribe of Judah” (Rev 5:5) and “the Lamb who was slain” (Rev 5:6). He is both Lion and Lamb. Why is that important? What if he were one but not the other?

4 - What makes you sing? At what times do you find yourself singing? Why are they singing in heaven?
